Novak Auto Parts was founded in 1955 by John M. Novak
at its present location, 2935 South Sixth Street in Klamath Falls. When
the store first opened the hours of operation were from eight am to six
pm, seven days a week.
Novak’s opened with two employees, and later a third employee was
hired. After only two years in operation, the growth in sales indicated
a need to expand and John doubled the size. Things went smoothly until
1961 when John died, and his son John J. Novak took over in the operation
of the business at the age of 18.
John had very little experience in the auto parts business, but was quick
to learn and in 1964 the growth in business required the building size
to double again. In 1965 John’s brother, Paul, joined the business.
Paul had just graduated from high school and was attending Oregon Technical
Institute in Klamath Falls. With the two brothers working together, the
business continued to grow - taking on more lines, and having major manufacturers
inviting Novak’s to buy direct, which we did, passing the savings
on to the customers. It was truly a family business with John, Paul and
their mother doing the daily deposits.
In 1973 the Novak brothers started construction on a new store, 13,000
square feet, with 2,000 square feet of display area. Two years later a
Triad parts computer system was installed which aided in the restocking
of parts, another service to the customers. The business has continued
to grow and now employs twenty people.
Novak’s has strived to carry top brands, quality parts and the very
best personal service for our customers. Novak’s personnel have
over 350 years of experience in the automotive industry. Novaks has kept
pace with technology through the years, 1st computer in 1975, computerized
cataloging in 1978, dial-up and then on-line business with our commercial
customers starting in 1981. Novak’s has the latest electronic test
equipment for automotive components, and we can now FLASH your car’s
computer online with the Ford, GM, and Mopar factories.
This year Novak’s is beginning our “50th Year of Business”
and we want to thank the Klamath Basin for your support. We look forward
to serving your automotive need for years to come.
